Citing its $10 million strong funding round back in October, mobile ad network madvertise claims the acquisition of Turkish outfit Mobilike will help it expand its operations across Europe.
The firm, which already boasts a strong hand in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, claims the purchase of the Turkish market leader forms part of its "aggressive plans to take a leading position" across the continent.
Targeting Turkey
"Turkey is one of the fastest growing economies in the world," said madvertise CEO Carsten Frien.
"With high mobile penetration and a predominantly young and affluent audience, our presence in Turkey is the logical step towards market leadership in Europe.
"For both parties this is a value creating deal and we are delighted to drive forward the mobile advertising market in Turkey together with Mobilike and its founders Sekip Can Gökalp and Volkan Biçer. They have done a fantastic job in developing mobile advertising and positioning Mobilike as the market leader in Turkey."
Further acquisitions in Europe are planned madvertise declining to reveal how much of its funds were spent on purchasing Mobilike with Gökalp and Biçer claiming their company's new owner is on the verge of triggering "something big."
Just the start
"With the growth weve experienced since 2009, the market share we now have and the added impetus of madvertise, the leading European mobile audience targeting platform, this move will have a significant and positive impact on the Turkish market," they added.
"Turkey is a mobile hotbed and this will offer us the opportunity to solidify our position as a leader in the mobile advertising industry."
