Weeks after Glu unveiled its move on the real money gambling scene, Big Fish Games has lifted the lid on its own bet, partnering with Betable to launch a casino app on iOS.
Big Fish Casino UK takes advantage of regulations in Britain that enable users to bet with real money in play, with Betable - a real money gaming platform already licensed in the country powering Big Fish's venture.
A real gamble?
"Real money betting is just one more way we are enhancing the Big Fish Casino gameplay experience," said Big Fish Casino general manager Carey DiJulio.
"With the launch of Big Fish Casino UK, real money players in the United Kingdom can join our other Big Fish Casino players in the social aspects and thrill of casino gaming from their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch anywhere they happen to be."
Big Fish Casino already boasts 1 million monthly active players worldwide, but it's the studio's attempt to take a slice of the real money gambling pie in the UK many other countries still restricting the practice that will generate most interest.
Glu which partnered with UK-based mobile gambling specialist Probability for its own venture previously said it sees the real money gambling scene as an opportunity to "extend the reach of our successful original IP to new demographics, as well as deepen engagement and rewards for our players."
Critics, however, will point to potential issues with users spending, with many early freemium games populated with in-app purchases previously accused by many of taking advantage of players by coaxing them into parting with large amounts of cash.
