At Pocket Gamer Connects San Francisco 2015, Mike Hines, Developer Evangelist at Amazon, took to the stage to give a talk on the new reality of mobile gaming.
Hines pointed out that "the amount of money that mobile generates will exceed the amount of money that console generates" in 2030, making mobile gaming a very desirable space to be in.
Growing and maturing
However, as the industry matures and new avenues of monetisation start to appear, like the rise of eSports, Hines warned that "we need to start thinking of terms of our fanbase."
He went on to give advice on how to build a fanbase, starting as early as the development stages where early fans will drive hype surrounding the game, saying that "it pays to engage your influencers early."
