Rovio is working on a sequel to The Angry Birds Movie following the box office success of the original.
The company generated $86.2 million in revenue during the first half of 2016. This was an increase of $11.6 million year-on-year, without profits from The Angry Birds Movie.
The movie is said to have grossed over $347 million worldwide at the box office. The film will launch in Japan release 1 October while a home media release is currently finding its way to various markets across the globe.

"With the excellent performance of our games portfolio and the fantastic movie, the Angry Birds brand is flying high and we are seeing positive EBIT and cash flow development, while fulfilling our mission to create world class entertainment," said CEO Kati Levoranta.
"We currently have several exciting new games and other projects in development, including new IP, and we have started planning the sequel to The Angry Birds Movie."
New games likely include the numerous Angry Birds games currently in soft launch, alongside new IP Pet Monsters and Battle Bay.
