Supercell soft-launches Brawl Stars in Canada App Store

Global release depends on soft launch success

Supercell soft-launches Brawl Stars in Canada App Store

Supercell has soft-launched its latest mobile game Brawl Stars on the Canada App Store.

The competitive real-time PvP shooter was revealed during a special livestream yesterday. The title features four game modes that generally focus on team-based play, such as Bounty, Smash & Grab and Heist.

The fourth mode, Showdown, pits 10 players into a slowly shrinking arena with the last player standing named the winner.

Competitive edge

Supercell appears to be gearing up to push Brawl Stars as a major mobile eSports, much like it is doing with Clash Royale. The livestream featured influencers and Supercell employees battling it out in a tournament-style format, complete with commentators reporting on the action as it happened.

Given the game is in soft launch, many of the features are still subject to change. There’s also no guarantee it will see a full global launch.

"We're thrilled to release the beta version of Brawl Stars,” said Supercell CEO Ilkka Paananen in a statement to PocketGamer.biz.

“There's nothing quite like it out there at the moment and it's very exciting to bring something new for the players to try out.

“The team behind the game have been working incredibly hard on it. We look forward to the feedback from the players - that will be invaluable for the team as they try to make the game better for them.

“Initially, Brawl Stars will be available only in Canada and on iOS. Depending on how this soft launch phase goes, the team will decide if they want to take it further than that.”
