Jam City's latest mobile title Harry Potter: Hogwarts has topped the download charts in its first 24 hours.
According to App Annie the title ranked first in the UK, US, France, Germany and Spain showing the popular IP and marketing campaign have clearly proven a strong pull for driving users to the game. Overall it reached the top 100 in 85 countries and number one spot in 28.
When it comes to the overall app grossing charts, it reached the top 100 in 39 countries and top 10 in 12, including the UK. Its highest recorded top grossing position so far in the US is 16th.
Set to make a splash?
Published by Portkey Games, Hogwarts Mystery has players taking on the role of a student at the wizarding school.
The story-driven adventure has users attending classes where they can learn new spells, as well as interacting with other classmates to make friends and rivalries.
“With AR game Wizards Unite also incoming from Pokemon Go developer Niantic later this year, and with Warner Brothers’ committing to the franchise with its new Portkey Games label, we expect J.K.Rowling’s Wizarding World to make a splash on mobile.,” said App Annie market insights analysis lead Sam Cheney.
As well as releasing Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, Jam City has just unveiled its own new original IP Wild Things: Animal Adventure, a match-three title that also features narrative elements.
