Paradox Interactive CEO Fredrik Wester to step down after nine years
Paradox Interactive has announced that its CEO Fredrik Wester is stepping down from the role after nearly nine years in charge.
Wester will continue to work full-time at Paradox as the executive chairman of the board. Current chairman Håkan Sjunnesson will step aside and take on the role of deputy chairman.
Replacing Wester will be Ebba Ljungerud, the current chief commercial officer of the Kindred Group. She has also served on the board of directors at Paradox since August 2014.
IGDA appoints Jen MacLean as its new permanent executive director
The International Game Developers Association has appointed Jen MacLean as its new executive director four months after she took over the organisation on an interim basis.
MacLean was previously the managing director of the IGDA Foundation before taking on the interim role. She was also the CEO of 38 Studios and president of StoryArc Media and has been in the games industry for over 20 years.
The IGDA has also brought on Kongregate CEO Emily Greer and Big Huge Games lead producer Zoe Bell onto its board of directors. Finnish games consultant Vesa Raudasoja has been promoted to vice-chair.
Hutch bolsters its London studio with four new team members
London-based mobile racing game developer Hutch has kicked off 2018 with four new hires to bolster its team.
The new hires are senior gameplay programmer Ed Ainsley, 3D artist Sinead Oram, producer Alun Williams and technical designer Nathan Jija. Ainsley joined the company in December 2017, while the others all started in January 2018.
Hutch has grown fairly rapidly over the past 12 months, adding another two staff members in December 2017.
Mobile advertising tech firm Glispa hires Jon Hook as its new chief commercial officer
Mobile advertising tech firm Glispa has appointed former AdColony VP of brands and agencies Jon Hook as its new chief commercial officer.
The role will see Hook commercialising Glispa's suite of advertising solutions, including Glispa Perform, Glispa Connect and Glispa Discover. He will be based in the company's London office and report directly to CEO Itamar Benedy.
Hook has been in the mobile ad tech business for well over a decade. He was a co-founder of Odyssey Mobile in 2010, and has held numerous roles in the industry before taking on the job of VP of brands and agencies at AdColony in November 2016.
Women in Games Scotland appoints new lead ambassador and national coordinator
UK non-profit organisation Women in Games WIGJ has appointed Rockstar North engine programmer Timea Tabori as its new lead ambassador and national coordinator for Women in Games Scotland.
Tabori has worked at Rockstar North since 2013 and is also a member of the board of directors of IGDA Scotland. She will work to promote diversity in the region by collaborating with regional trade bodies and representing Women in Games.
The organisation has also appointed Roll7 producer Rachael Gregg-Smythe as the regional coordinator for the North West. She will respond to requests from women in games in region and work closely with local network Gameopolis.
