Netmarble has launched its highly-anticipated MMORPG Lineage 2 Revolution in the US and Europe.
The game first launched in South Korea back in December 2016, and has been a huge hit ever since. It generated $176.6 million in revenues in its first month alone.
It has received a high level of interest in the West, with 1.5 million pre-registrations made in the run-up to launch. This has been aided by talk show host Conan O'Brien, who worked with Netmarble to showcase the game at TwitchCon 2017.
Slow rollout
Netmarble has taken its time launching the game worldwide. An English-language release was pushed to Cambodia, Hong Kong, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand in June 2017, and it was eventually launched in Japan in August 2017.
The developer is still hoping to launch Lineage 2 Revolution in China at some point. It initially faced some trouble when the country banned all games made in South Korea from launching in China.
