Partnership will see Nazara publish the studio’s flagship quiz title in emerging markets

Indian mobile games publisher Nazara Technologies has acquired a 27.4 per cent stake in real-money quiz developer Crimzoncode.

The studio is behind one of India’s leading real-money mobile quiz games, TopQuiz.

Nazara’s multi-year partnership will see it publishing TopQuiz across emerging markets. Over six months Crimzoncode has scaled the app to over five million users, currently hitting one million monthly active users.

Nazara said it intends to expand the title within the Indian market and internationally.

The cost of the deal was not disclosed.

Real-money quizzes

“Quizzing combined with real money has immense potential,” said Crimzoncode founder Devavrat Jatia.

“Skill based game play around quiz is deeply embedded in the DNA of Indians and now having a chance to put your knowledge to earn money is a huge opportunity for millions of Indians .

“We believe that having the backing of Nazara as an investor and publisher will provide us with a springboard to launch real money quiz in 61 countries across the emerging markets where Nazara had its presence, as on September 30th, 2017.”
