Google Play revenue unlocked for developers in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand

We all know about China, Japan and Korea as mobile markets, but the smart money is moving into the emerging markets of southeast Asia.

Like China, the opportunity is to engage large populations whose first computing device is a smartphone, typically an Android phone.

So it's good news for developers in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand as they can now start charging for apps on Google Play, thanks to the latest update to Google Wallet Merchant.

As we recently considered, many Asian markets are dominated by content from local developers, while as demonstrated by Flappy Bird (from a Vietnamese developer) global hits can now come from anywhere.
