Apple is looking to increase its investment in China by building a research and development centre in the country by the end of 2016.
The new R&D centre will be used to unite operations teams with engineering staff in China, as well as improve relations with universities and other partners in the region.

Apple hasn't been having a particularly good time in China of late, with iPhone sales failing against the power of cheaper Android devices from manufacturers like Huawei and Oppo.
This is despite the launch of the iPhone SE, which was intended as a cheaper model to compete with local Android manufacturers, but found itself combating regulatory setbacks and lawsuits.
