Pokemon GO reaches 4.2 million players a day in South Korea

Niantic launched Pokemon GOin South Korea last week and the popular location-based augmented reality game is reportedly off to a flyer.

According to analytics company WiseApp, the game peaked at 4.28 million users on Thursday, January 26th. That’s up from the 2.91 million players two days prior on January 24th when the game pulled in 2.91 million users.

The number of downloads after launch day however dropped to 850,000 on Thursday from a high 2.83 million at launch.

Catch 'em all

The report came to the figures after a sample survey of 17,400 smartphone users. The company said the survey had an error of plus or minus 0.74%.

According to App Annie, Pokemon GO has been the most downloaded game on the App Store every day since release. It has also been second in the top grossing charts after shooting straight to that position on launch day.

The title sits behind Netmarble’s hugely successful Lineage 2: Revolution, which continues to hold the top spot having reportedly generated some $176 million in its first month of release.
