Sea Entertainment seals a five-year deal to publish Tencent games in Southeast Asia

Southeast Asia publisher Sea has signed a deal to distribute Tencent’s games in the region.

Sea will publish the titles under its entertainment unit Garena. The company already has an existing relationship with Tencent and currently publishes Arena of Valor and League of Legends for the Chinese giant in Southeast Asia.

Garena will distribute Tencent’s mobile and PC games in Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore for five years.

Five-year plan

Tencent states it intends on working closely with Sea to distribute and promote top titles from its own catalogue in the region.

"Tencent is a global leader in the video games industry, with a portfolio that includes some of the world's most popular and engaging titles,” said Sea chairman and group chief executive Forrest Li.

“This arrangement further solidifies our strategic partnership with Tencent to bring top quality IP to the large and growing games community in our region."

Tencent president Martin Lau added: "Garena operates across some of the fastest-growing markets globally, and has a deep understanding of the dynamics in these regions.

“Our long-term partnership and collaborations with Garena on key titles have been successful, and we are glad to further deepen our strategic partnership through this arrangement."

Tencent's president of international partnerships for Europe Jurgen Post will be a speaker at Pocket Gamer Connects London 2019, which takes place on January 21st to 22nd.
