Activision has partnered with China-based developer Elex to work on a future mobile game using the Call of Duty franchise.
As reported by MMO Culture, the agreement will last for up to three years following the release of the title. However, this may be extended by another year if both companies agree.
Elex will not pay any licensing fee and development costs will be split equally between both companies. The agreement appears to only cover the cost of one game.
Moving on
Activision was previously working on a mobile Call of Duty game called Call of Duty: Siege. It was canned while in soft launch with no reason given, though this agreement could have influenced that decision.
Elex is also currently developing a mobile game based on the Total War franchise called Total War: King's Return. It has been in soft launch since December 27th 2016.
The developer is known for strategy titles such as Clash of Kings, which it most recently advertised through a high-profile ad campaign starring football player Bastian Schweinsteiger.
