With its free-to-play business booming, Sega Sammy is looking to further bulk up with development talent.
It's just invested into Japanese mobile developer MyNet.
Originally a utility studio making CRM software, MyNet has successfully moved into smartphone games with its card-collecting title Emblem of Falkyrie being a top 10 top grossing Android game in Japan.
The amount of the investment or the equity stake taken by Sega through its Sega Networks division hasn't been disclosed.
However, it has been confirmed that both companies will be working together over future smartphone games.
