Reports that the Nintendo NX will be a hybrid home console and portable device have seemingly been confirmed by The Pokemon Company's Chief Executive Tsunekazu Ishihara.
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, Ishihara, one of the first senior execs to speak publicly about the NX's capabilities, said his studio will be making multiple games for the hardware.
He would reveal if any of its games would be available for launch, however.
Hardware hybrid
“The NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a hand-held device,” said Ishihara.
“We will make games for the NX.”
The Pokemon Company has typically developed games for Nintendo’s handheld consoles such as the Nintendo DS and 3DS, rather than its home consoles.
The Nintendo NX has yet to be officially unveiled, but Nintendo has said it plans to launch the hardware in March 2017.
