Plans to ship 2 million units globally in its first month

Nintendo keeping quiet on Switch until January 13th 2017

Nintendo will not be revealing any new information about its upcoming Switch console until January 13th 2017.

In a statement, the company said that it will share a live presentation from Tokyo with its president Tatsumi Kimishima January 13th.

Nintendo will reveal the price, release date and launch line-up at that time. It will likely not reveal any information on the console or its games until that time.

Have a go

It will also be hosting hands-on experiences with the console from January 13th. The first of these will be held in Tokyo on Janaury 14th and 15th.

The company has also revealed that it will only be shipping two million units globally in the first month.

The Nintendo Switch was officially announced a week ago on October 20th. It is a hybrid console that will be usable both at home and on the move.

It has been met with mixed reception. Share prices in the company have fluctuated following the announcement as the mass market appeal of the console has been questioned.

Though with the decline in tablet sales, there could be an untapped market emerging for Nintendo.
