Kickstarter to launch in Japan on September 13th

Crowdfunding platform Kickstarter will launch in Japan on September 13th.

As reported by The Verge, the news means creators in Japan can now launch their own localised campaigns using a Japanese bank account.

Users will also now be able to write their Kickstarter page in Japanese.

Previously creators had to form a campaign with a partner in the US, though Japanese users could always pledge donations to a project.

Any developers or other creators in Japan interested in starting a crowdfunding campaign should email

Kickstarter, available in 21 countries, has been used to help more than 10,000 games generate funds to support the project to release – although not every title is completed.
