Following hard reset in SF, GREE expands with new offices in Berlin and Melbourne

Having decided to sack 30 percent of its office in expensive San Francisco - aka performing a "hard reset" - GREE is now expanding in new and cheaper locations.

It's just announced it's expanding with new offices in Berlin and Melbourne.

The Melbourne move comes following GREE's acquisition of developer Twiitch, which GREE hopes will provide it with the technology and systems to scale up new games quickly.

The Berlin office won't be developing games.

Instead it will be providing services ranging from marketing and business development to customer service, game localization, QA, and live operations.

The GREE Berlin office will be led by general manager, Philipp Karstaedt, who joins from mobile monetisation outfit Fyber. He also previously worked at Aeria Games.

In Melbourne, Twiitch co-founders Shane Stevens and Steven Spagnolo will lead the team

"The team at Twiitch has always been committed to building great mobile experiences for the core gamer. Working with GREE allows us to reach an even wider audience and offer more novel, innovative gameplay to players worldwide," said Spagnolo.

"We are proud to extend the GREE brand into Australia, as we share GREE's passion for mobile games and look forward to continuously raising the industry bar, together."
