Record 270,000 attendees visit Tokyo Game Show 2016

This year’s Tokyo Game Show 2016 welcomed a record 271,224 visitors to the expo.

The first Business Day saw 31,399 attendees, while the second Business Day grew to 33,634.

There were also a record 614 companies and groups exhibiting at the event. 345 of these were from outside of Japan.

Record numbers

The first and second Public Days saw 98,074 and 108,117 people descend on the event.

The total of 271,224 visitors was up on last 2015’s 268,446 visitors and 2014’s 251,832 attendees.

The show covered all different sectors of the games industry, including smartphone, AR, VR, PC and console.

One interesting announcement during Sony’s Tokyo Game Show 2016 PlayStation conference was AnywhereVR, which lets users interact with their mobile phone while wearing a PlayStation VR headset.

Tokyo Game Show 2017 will be held between 21 to 24 September 201 at Makuhari Messe.
