Tencent is bringing its massively successful MOBA Honor of Kings to the Nintendo Switch under its European name Arena of Valor.
The announcement was made during the recent Nintendo Direct stream, with very few details about the release. A public beta is expected to be held in winter 2017.
Arena of Valor will still be an F2P game, and will likely retain much of its monetisation model. The only major change to the game will likely be its control scheme, as the game is currently designed for touchscreen play only.
The big Switch
Honor of Kings continues to be one of Tencent's biggest games ever released. It is still one of the developer's key drivers of revenue, which rose to $8.56 billion in its last financials.
The game has slowly rolled out around the world, most recently in Europe under the name Arena of Valor. It was originally known as Strike of Kings in the region.
Tencent has already struck up a deal to bring DC Comics characters to the game to appeal to Western audiences. It is likely that these characters will cross over onto the Switch edition.
