Social networking site Foursquare has provided a short video illustrating a weeks worth of global check-ins to celebrate reaching the milestone of 1 billion check-ins total world wide.
The New York City company posted the video on its company blog, highlighting how "venue categories ebb and flow on different continents, and as teeming cities wake up and fall asleep."
The next quadrillion
America predictably fluctuates the most clearly, with the bright orange of home or workplace based check-ins the most vividly represented. As the week passes though you can see how Europe and eastern Asia, specifically Japan, are clearly hubs packed with Foursquare users.
Foursquare only recently announced reaching 10 million users worldwide, having been established only two years ago. Though it apparently doesn't intend to stop growing its user-base anytime soon.
"A billion check-ins was pretty cool. Thanks for helping us get there, and we look forward to the next quadrillion." Foursqaure posted.
