If our recent visit to 2011's Social Gaming Summit in London gave the impression social studios are increasingly looking to mobile for their future, news Wooga is making a move on iOS would seem to cement this transition.
The German powerhouse has been a major force on social platforms such as Facebook proclaiming itself the third largest player in the summer and now it's set its sights on iOS, with Diamond Dash the first release to hit Apple's platform.
Dash for downloads
The game has already amassed a 25 million-strong userbase on Facebook, which might explain why Wooga has moved to unite the two versions, with iOS players able to link the game to the original version on the social network.
"Diamond Dash, Wooga's exciting 60 second gem rush, challenges players' reflexes to smash as many same colored gems as possible," the firm said of the release on the Wooga website.
"Weekly tournaments allow players to compete for the highest score with their friends, and also reward the top 3 players with one of the coveted gold, silver or bronze medals.
"By linking the iOS version to Facebook and automatically synchronising both, weekly tournaments are now available across multiple platforms."
Diamond Dash's iOS launch comes after Wooga was one of the first studios to support Facebook's new HTML5-based app platform for its mobile apps, with Magic Land Island launching on day one.
