Following its closed beta last November, Sony's PlayStation Suite SDK tools have gone into open public allowing developers to create games and applications for Android phones and the PS Vita.
The software package, which is free to download via Sony's Developer Program, will allow developers to test performance verification of their games and apps for Sony-certified devices including Sony's own Android handsets and the PS Vita.
It only does everything
Developers will have access to a range of tools including graphic and sound libraries, UI composers, 2D graphic and physical engines, as well as sample works featuring 2D and 3D graphics.
Sony announced the PlayStation Suite shortly after the reveal of the PS Vita and Xperia Play in January 2011 - a move suggesting Sony was well aware of the threat the mobile market had over its handheld.
The official SDK is due to launch later this year with an annual cost of $99 and will allow developers to sell content through the PlayStation Store.
