Selling at roughly twice the pace of Motorola's Xoom, MD of Canadian investment bank RBC Capital Markets Mike Abramsky believes total BlackBerry PlayBook sales currently sit at 250,000 units.
As a result, Abramsky states in a note to investors that demand for the tablet in its first month on sale in North America will mean that total Q1 2011 sales will come in at the half a million mark.
Matter of millions
Though by no means a shoddy figure, such a pace does place RBC's projection of 3 million units sold by the end of 2011 in doubt.
At its current rate, the tablet's total for the year will come in at around 2 million units, though that doesn't take into account sales in territories where PlayBook is yet to launch.
All eyes will be on just what kind of sales BlackBerry can muster in Europe to top up that total, with the device's UK debut planned for June 16.
