South Korean publisher Gamevil (KDQ:063080) has achieved a net profit of 3.40 billion Won ($2.9 million) in the second quarter of 2010, up 29 percent compared to the previous year.
Sales rose by 25 percent year-on-year, hitting 6.72 billion Won ($5.8 million) across the quarter.
Gamevil claims the results represent the second best quarter in the company's history, with profits up on Q1's total of 3.37 billion Won.
Half year high
Total sales for the first six months of 2010 were 13.02 billion Won ($11.2 million) up more than 3.5 billion Won on the first half of 2009.
Net income over the six months was 6.77 billion Won ($5.8 million), up 57 percent.
Gamevil's profit margin over the period was 52 percent.
Global gains
Gamevil says it owes much of its success across the quarter thanks to strong sales of NOM 4, HYBRID 2: Saga of Nostalgia and new game franchises like Illusia in Korea.
The likes of ZENONIA 2 and Soccer Superstars on iPhone and Baseball Superstars 2010 on Android have also sold well globally.
"We're extremely happy with our continuous growth with high margins." said CFO Yong Kuk Lee.
"International sales have been strong through distribution of Apple's App Store and Google's Android Market, while we maintain the leading position in the domestic market."
Indeed, overseas revenue is up 52 percent in Q2 2010 compared to Q2 2009, and up 100 percent on the previous quarter.
