The Android Cupcake update from T-Mobile was going to be such a huge shot in the arm for the G1, but it came and went in the UK without a great deal of fanfare.
It has cleaned up the handset's menus and improved usability, without doubt, though US G1 owners needn't feel too concerned over a post on the T-Mobile forums delaying the 1.5 firmware update once again.
We are working diligently to get Android 1.5 out as soon as possible, while aiming to ensure a consistent, positive experience for our customers," the official topic says. "Were finalising the build this week to ensure optimal functionality and smooth delivery. Your device will notify you when the update is available. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Cupcake was originally promised by the end of May, and if it runs over into June T-Mobile's news could easily be lost amidst the stream of news regarding its competitor's new hardware launches.
