Recently Nokia proudly announced that its Ovi Store was second only to Apple's App Store, enjoying over a million downloads per day.
Independent mobile application store GetJar has since come to the fore to rubbish Nokia's claim, given that the company sees over 1.7 million downloads per day and doesn't sell ringtones and wallpapers to get those figures.
"The message is misleading to the industry and developers, CEO of GetJar Ilja Laurs tells Forbes. "In terms of downloads, GetJar is the No. 2 app store."
Quick to recant (without actually recanting) Nokia's Joseph Gallo responded by saying that what Nokia actually meant was that it's the number two application store operated by a handset manufacturer, though such semantics haven't quite managed to wipe egg off the Finnish mobile giant's face.
