Mobile advertising firm AdMob (now under Google's expansive umbrella) has released its monthly statistics report on the smartphone industry, which alongside the usual facts and figures reveals the first data on potential iPad consumers.
According to the report, at present 16 per cent of existing iPhone users have expressed an intention to buy an iPad. This is compared to 11 per cent of Android users who are also interested in Apple's forthcoming tablet, which actually isn't a bad figure considering it would demand a change of platforms (something smartphone users take a lot of encouragement to do).
In other news, the report highlighted the male dominance of the Android platform, which sits at 73 per cent male, while the other platforms are a reasonably even split.
The iPhone came out on top of the devices users are most likely to recommend to a friend, closely followed by the iPod touch. The Palm handsets were least favourable, with 11 per cent of existing users saying they wouldn't recommend it.
