Fostering support within the development community is an increasingly important part of any new platform launch, but Sony Ericsson's application concept Creations is something of a special case.
Here, the cloud-based network will attempt to bring the consumer into the loop; studios and gamers alike sharing up and downloading content to and from applications with apparent ease.
It's therefore vital that Sony Ericsson weaves Creations into as much third-party content as it can something it appears confident it can achieve.
It's a confidence no doubt bred from its Creation Day at Mobile World Congress. The firm has published a video from the event that gives a snippet of apparent developer enthusiasm for the platform on its blog.
Sony Ericsson was understandably keen to push the opportunities Creations represents during MWC, the company stating the platform "focuses on facilitating the evolving needs of consumers, content publishers and developers, creating a community and a movement where they come together to personalise, share and continuously evolve and co-create mobile content."
According to tool project manager Albin Olofsson, Sony Ericsson is using events like Creation Day to gauge what type of content studios wish to see on the platform in the future.
Only a limited number of developers are currently in the loop, but Sony Ericsson is set to fully release Creations' APIs in the near future.
