The fact NaturalMotion Games' latest release Backbreaker 2: Vengeance is already generating seven times the revenue its predecessor managed in its first week only means something because the original game sold so well.
To date, Backbreaker Football has notched up downloads in excess of 3.2 million.
As such, any suggestion that it's being outpaced by its successor would appear to be especially good news for NaturalMotion.
Download derby?
The publisher hasn't gone as far as to detail actual download rates, however, instead only making the aforementioned revenue stat public.
Indeed, given Backbreaker 2: Vengeance retails at almost three times the price the original game did - the sequel coming in at $2.99 to Backbreaker Football's 99c - the game's comparatively higher price will account for much of the additional revenue.
As a result, to achieve seven times the original game's first week revenue rate, Backbreaker 2 would needed to outsell its predecessor by more than 2:1.
