EA's continued assault on the smartphone market continues, this time with the purchase of Canadian studio Bight Games.
Details of the deal were not revealed, but EA claims the outfit best known for free-to-play releases such as Trade Nations and NBA Jam for EA will become part of EAi, retaining both its name and internal structure for the time being.
Bigging up Bight
"At EAi, many of us already know Bight as a partner we have worked with their talented team to develop several of our successful mobile games to date," said EAi executive VP Barry Cottle.
"Bight deepens our expertise in one of the fastest-growing segments of mobile games at an important time. We look forward to having them join our team at EAi when the deal closes later this month."
EA has made much noise in mobile of late, having acquired PopCap, Chillingo, Firemint, and Playfish over the course of the last two years.
