As quickly as it came, it's gone again.
The Amazon Appstore, which surprisingly went live outside the US yesterday in UK, Europe, Australia and India, amongst others, has now equally surprisingly been taken down.
Originally launched in March, only for Amazon users in the US, we've been waiting ever since to be able to download content - the app store itself could be installed onto devices but downloads were locked.
Roll up the red carpet
The confusion yesterday was that there was no official announcement, which leads us to believe that perhaps the launch was merely a test run of the service to make sure it worked smoothly.
That or the whole thing was one big mistake.
So, it seems we'll have to wait before we see how the Amazon Appstore fits into the fragmented Android app market space - maybe until Amazon annnounces its first Android tablet, expected in November.
