The web may be all of a flutter over Facebook's pending HTML5 venture Project Spartan, but that hasn't stopped Kongregate pushing ahead with its plans to advance its Flash-based alternative Kongregate Arcade.
The Android app updated to version 2.0 now sports more than 575 Flash games, with the latest version adding a host of new social features, including friend challenges and real-time score comparisons.
Rewarding loyalty
Kongregate's parent company GameStop is also getting in on the act, allowing users to earn points for its loyalty program - PowerUp Rewards - that they can then redeem in the firm's stores or online.
"We're proud to be one of the highest rated gaming applications on the Android Market," said CEO Jim Greer.
"The enhancements we've made to Kongregate Arcade 2.0 enable gamers to directly challenge their friends in hundreds of games, adding a new competition layer to an already addictive gaming experience."
In all, Kongregate now boasts a development community 8,500 studios strong, and the app has hosted more than 7 million game sessions, and awarding nearly 500,000 badges.
