After a flood of criticism on its official forums, along with an average rating of 2.5 on the App Store, EA has decided to pull Battlefield 3: Aftershock.
The game - which seemed to be designed to provide a multiplayer taster for a fully featured Battlefield experience later in the year - launched only in the US earlier in February 2012.
However, its ambition to provide a first person shooter multiplayer experience on iOS was hampered by poor controls, connection issues and a lack of content.
It only featured one map and four weapons.

"EA Mobile is committed to delivering mobile entertainment experiences that are on par with the content and quality users have come to expect from their favourite EA gaming brands," read an official statement from EA.
"To this end, we have decided to remove Battlefield 3: Aftershock from the App Store and are currently re-evaluating the app in response to the consumer feedback we've received.
"We thank all the fans who have downloaded the game to date."
