Foursquare has announced a partnership with the International Olympic Committee that will see the firm tie its location-based platform to the London 2012 games.
In what's arguably the biggest deal in the company's history, Foursquare has been brought on board as part of the IOC's drive to get people visiting locations at this summer's games.
The idea is, those who check in at past, current and future Olympic venues will be treated to a unique badge to celebrate the games.
Badge of honour
"Our integration with foursquare and the ability to leave location-based tips from the athletes is one more way to serve highly engaged fans of the Olympic Games and to integrate social media directly into the Olympic fan experience," said head of social media for the IOC, Alex Huot.
"We wanted to do something fun and thank our fans who make an effort to stay fit by offering them a chance to win a trip to the Olympics."
Users need to check in at two different Olympic locations to unlock the badge, with a trip to the London 2012 games also up for grabs as a reward.
Users also need to follow the official Olympics account on Foursquare to qualify for the badge, with more details available on the platform's official London 2012 page.
