Keen to prove its worth in the iOS ecosystem, Facebook has announced it was responsible for 83 million visits to the App Store throughout the course of May.
The stat comes as the firm's new App Center for mobile has officially launched, with Facebook claiming the platform represents a "new way for users to discover social applications."
Centre point
App Center is Facebook's way of driving app downloads both on and off device.
Interestingly, if the app in question is available on Apple's App Store or Google Play, the user will be pushed to download it from the appropriate marketplace.
This happens both on mobile, or if users are browsing via their PC (see below), with Facebook billing App Center as an easy way for developers to reach 500 million mobile Facebook users.
Currently, the platform boasts more than 600 apps - Ubisoft Ghost Recon Commander, Words with Friends and Draw Something on board though its launch is set to be staggered, with just 6 to 8 percent of Facebook users in the US able to access it from day one.
The rest of its userbase should find the marketplace popping up on their mobiles it in the coming weeks.
