Plymouth-based independent studio Remode has secured £100,000 of funding from Creative England, a national agency that supports film, television, games and digital media.
The capital comes from a £5 million award that was given to Creative England by the British Government's regional growth fund. Previous beneficiaries of this award include Liverpool-based developer Atomicom.
In this instance, Remode was one of only five successful applicants in this round of funding, although 108 others submitted proposals.
The company plans to use its newfound capital to finish development of its browser-based game Burrow by the end of 2013.
The burrowers
"We are all incredibly excited here at Remode. The Creative England funding is crucial in allowing us to complete Burrow, the most challenging and creative project we have undertaken yet," explained Remode CEO Ella Romanos.
Burrow is a free-to-play multiplayer strategy game that's built with HTML5 and webGL technologies.
It's planned to launch on mobile devices as well as PC, although it's currently unclear whether it will launch as a native application or web app.
