Edinburgh-based predictive analytics outfit GamesAnalytics has launched a free-to-play game design consultancy service it's calling Benchmark.
The service will provide a full review of a game's design across 75 categories including engagement, retention and monetisation.
Benchmark is designed to provide practical recommendations for games still in the alpha or beta phase of development, delivering a score that compares the title to a genre average as well as the best-in-class.
Prelaunch refinements
"It's considerably easier and more cost effective for publishers and developers to get their games right before launch," said GamesAnalytics CEO Chris Wright of the announcement.
"Once a player has had a poor experience they are unlikely to return on the off chance that the game experience might have improved.
"Our Benchmark service recognises the games industry's critical need in 2013 to better understand how to fully maximise the potential of F2P games," Wright concluded.
Benchmark launches today and is available for developers and publishers working across all manner of connected platforms and genres.
