App store comparisons are an ideal case of apples versus clockwork oranges, but it's always interesting to get a proper breakdown of intra-store figures.
The latest company to do so is Nokia, which has been heavily rebooting its Ovi Store during the second half of 2010.
It's now up to 3.5 million pieces of content downloaded daily - up from 3.0 million in mid November - of which 40 percent are games and 30 percent are apps. The remainder includes things such as ringtones and wallpapers.
Love to play
Unsurprisingly, games are also the most popular category amongst paid downloads.
And when it comes to paying for content, the store supports carrier billing via 100 operators in 30 countries. Where available, over two-thirds of customers choose this method of payment. Developers get 60 percent of their gross app price.
Choice millionaires
More generally, 92 developers have had their content downloaded more than one million times - up from 70 in mid October - while the average user consumes 8.5 downloads monthly. Ovi Store is available in more than 190 countries.
However, a note of warning. The most popular devices aren't always the most capable. Of the top 10, six of them are touch-based but they are: 5800 XpressMusic, N97, N97 mini, 5530 XpressMusic, 5230 Nuron, and the X6.
