A new survey by NPD Group claims that 45 per cent of US mobile users just want to make voice calls with their handsets, rather than use their whizzy multimedia features.
Read it and weep. That's millions of people who don't want to play mobile games, in theory.
Of course, with less than 5 per cent of mobile users buying mobile games now, that means there's another 50 per cent of the market to aim for - if you take a glass-half-full approach to these kind of stats.
The same survey found that 20 per cent of US mobile users DO want to use all the multimedia features on their phones, though.
NPD's director of industry analysis Ross Rubin tells MocoNews that the results indicate that "carriers and other handset retailers have an opportunity to educate customers as to the capabilities of their handsets in the wake of slower overall handset sales".
