Symbian has announced a bunch of new partners for its smartphone platform, including HP, Qualcomm, Imagination Technologies and SanDisk. Oh, and MySpace.
They take its total number of partners to 78, with the announcement timed to bolster the Symbian Foundation's presence at Mobile World Congress next week.
There's not a huge games angle to the news, in truth, although Imagination Technologies's Tony King-Smith had some related comments.
"Mobile phone manufacturers adopting Symbian OS have been among the most enthusiastic adopters of our POWERVR graphics and video technologies," he says. "We believe Imagination will become a key player in the Symbian Foundation ecosystem."
The Foundation's plans to take Symbian open-source continue to be the focus of its partner activities, and it's keen to up its community even further.
"We're in a unique position to continue the rapid growth of the most competitive open software platform," says executive director Lee Williams.
"Every single member of our community has a chance to influence the way we evolve and develop our offering. The foundation will provide, manage and unify the platform but it's the community which will make it great."
Symbian will be hosting a demo pod at the GSMA's Mobile Application Developer Garage event on Monday, as well as its own stand at the MWC show.
