Over a third of the Anrdoid Markets 2,300 applications are now paid, according to T-Mobiles US CTO, Cole Brodman, and 80 per cent of its G1 users are using it to access the web every day.
Speaking at the Dow Jones Wireless Innovations conference, Brodman explained T-Mobiles plans to double its 3G footprint thanks to the strong uptake of feature rich handset use an area being led by the Android powered G1.
An average of 40 downloads have now been made to each G1 device, though Brodman was careful to warn Google that the Market still isnt as user friendly as it could be.
"Users have a hard time searching through that long tail," he points out when suggesting that the Market needs a stronger filtering system to help users find their way to the applications they want, while reducing clutter from other listings.
He points out YouTube as a good example of easy to find, relevant items on a service with a massive list of available content.
Pocket Gamer reached a similar opinion in a comparison between the Android Market and the iPhone App Store, but its reassuring to see the corporations arent feeling complacent now the G1 is finding its place in the smartphone arena.
