It's hardly been a major press event - maybe because even the Microsoft hierarchy thinks that Windows Mobile 6.5 is borked - but the launch of the Windows Marketplace for Mobile on 6th October is being dutifully press released by publishers.
Following Glu Mobile's announcement of two launch titles, Gameloft has gone 5.5 times better announcing it's making 11 games available for download on the store.
They are: Asphalt 4: Elite Racing, Ferrari GT: Evolution; Real Football 2010, NFL 2010 (US and Canada only), Spider-Man: Toxic City, Prince of Persia, Gangstar 2: Kings of LA, The Oregon Trail (US and Canada only), UNO, and Texas Hold'Em Poker, and one other that seems to have been missed off the press release.
"We are pleased to once again collaborate with Microsoft to make our games available on Windows Marketplace for Mobile. With more than 50 million users throughout the world, Windows Mobile devices have been garnering a lot of interest and excitement among the public for many years," stated Michel Guillemot, Gameloft's president, gamely.
"We support Windows Marketplace for Mobile, which offers a new digital distribution channel for Gameloft titles and represents an additional window for users searching for digital entertainment."
"Gameloft is a key player and market leader in downloadable video games for both mobile phones and consoles games," said Jason Lim, director of ISV and developer experience at Microsoft. "We are confident that Gameloft will offer high quality games and entertainment to users of new Windows phones through Windows Marketplace for Mobile."
The Windows Marketplace for Mobile is now live on WiMob devices and will soon be available via web at marketplace.windowsphone.com.
