Further to our story entitled Symbian Foundation saved by 22 million EU injection, there has been clarification from Symbian's PR agency Brands2Life.
It points out that new organisation SYMBEOSE isn't replacing Symbian. Rather it's a consortium including Symbian.
Join the family
"This is a consortium, which the Symbian Foundation is simply leading, set up to execute some specific, discrete projects with objectives for enhancing the platform. Symbian continues to exist and hasn't become SYMBEOSE they are two separate things," PocketGamer.biz was informed.
In addition, the figure of 22 million of funding for SYMBEOSE, while correct, actually consists of an 11 million grant from the EU and 11 million from the organisations forming SYMBEOSE.
Bottomline - "Apologies if there was any ambiguity before, but Symbian carries on, as does the new SYMBEOSE initiative."
