Learning Android Game Programming is the newest entry in the Learning series, following up titles such as Learning HTML5 Game Programming and Learning iPad Programming.

Written by Richard A. Rogers and published by Addison-Wesley Professional, the 480-page book aims to provide "hands-on, start-to-finish guide to creating winning games for today's rapidly growing Android mobile device marketplace."

The main focus of the tome is the AndEngine framework and Java/Dalvik virtual machine, as it tries to steer clear of more complicated 3D engines.

It covers mobile game design principles, tools, and terminology as well as approaching the rendering of images, using sprite sheets, and creating animations
