Quebec-based developer Frima Studio has become the first company to obtain work-family balance certification from the Bureau de normalisation du Quebec (BNQ).
One year after Quebec Ministry of Family established its standards for work-family balance, Frima introduced several perks to its 350-strong workforce.
These include flexible hours, free access to public transit, paid leave between Christmas and New Year's Day and bonus leave under the Labor Standards Act.
To the point
In addition, one of its more interesting initiatives are the Frima points. These can be redeemed for services such as tax return preparation, relaxation packages, travel vouchers, and more.
"The well being of our employees and their families is a core value at Frima, hence our investment in a robust work-family balance program," said Frima CEO Steve Couture.
"This certification further demonstrates that we are an employer ready to attract top talent both in Quebec and internationally."
A shining example
Quebec's Minister of Family Yolande James commended Frima's efforts to make work-family balance a priority hoping that other companies in Quebec might follow suit.
"Hats off to Frima for putting work-family balance at the center of its priorities. We hope that Frimas example will inspire other companies to strive for this innovative certification developed by the BNQ."
"Our certification validates that an employer is responding adequately to the new realities of its employees and is ready to attract new talent," said Jean Rousseau, director of the BNQ.
