Samsung has said it plans to clear the air with Apple prior to court-mandated talks to settle their on-going patent disputes.
It seems the most likely possibility will be striking a cross-licensing deal.
Samsung's chief JK Shin says: "There is still a big gap in the patent war with Apple but we still have several negotiation options including cross-licensing."
Shin will be joined by Samsung chief executive Choi Gee-sung and Apple's CEO Tim Cook. They're due to meet in a San Francisco court house today to work out a solution to their on-going patent disputes pending in 10 countries.
Time to settle this
Apple claims Samsung has infringed a number of design patents with its range of Android-powered smartphones and tablets many of which relate to the iPad and iPhone, as well as an additional list-scrolling software patent.
Last December, Judge Koh denied the Cupertino company's request to halt the sale of four Samsung products in the US including the Galaxy S 4G, Infune 4G, Droid Charge, and Galaxy Tab 10.1.
But last week, a US court of appeals ruled that Apple could pursue a sales ban of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1.
