Apple has claimed a problem causing newly updated apps to crash upon launch has been resolved, responding to stories that spread across the web detailing the App Store glitch.
In a statement released to AllThingsD, an Apple representative explained that the problem was caused by a defect in code designed to ensure purchased apps are unlocked for users.
Small number?
"We had a temporary issue that began yesterday with a server that generated DRM code for some apps being downloaded," detailed Apple
"It affected a small number of users."
"The issue has been rectified and we dont expect it to occur again. Users who experienced an issue launching an app caused by this server bug can delete the affected app and re-download it."
Insta-problem
The problem was brought to light by Instapaper creator Marco Arment, who has been maintaining a list of affected apps since 4 July.
That list now contains 114 applications including Yahoo! Search, Angry Birds Space Free, and LA Times suggesting that the number of users affected may not be as small as Apple suggests.
"Instapaper's corruption alone probably affected well over 20,000 customers," Arment notes.
Sources speaking to Macworld have claimed Apple will be removing one-star reviews that affected apps have received as a result of the server bug.
