The grass is always greener on the other side, right?
Earlier this week, Andrew Golding, from Australian indie Brawsome, was pointing out it had been much more successful selling the PC/Mac versions of its games on Steam than trying to maintain a $5 pricepoint on the App Store.
But, at least, anyone can release their games on the App Store. It's not so easy on Steam, which is curated by Valve.
Locked gate
That's why a group of disgruntled developers who, for various reasons, had the PC/Mac versions of their games rejected by Steam are attempting to generate their own community push.
It's related to the launch of Greenlight - Value's new crowdsourcing initiative to decide what's released on Steam.
So somewhat cheekily they've labelled their promotion the Green Light Bundle.
It follows the typical pay-what-you-like Indie Bundle formula, with 5 percent of the revenues going into a pot to fund future indie development.
The developers also request that players make sure they vote for the games when Value's Greenlight site goes live. It's expected in late August.
Track record
Many of the developers have previously seen some success with their titles on iOS and Android; notably including Madfinger's Samurai II Vengeance, Angry Mob's Guerrilla Bob and Robots vs Wizards' Paper Monsters.
The outfit behind the initiative is Dutch developer Stolen Couch, which brings its Ichi to the bundle.
The Green Light Bundle will be available for 2 weeks. You can find all the details here.
